Types of Skincare Moisturizers:-
- Oil-based (also known as emollients)
- Water-based (also known as humectants)
- Occlusive moisturizers.
Emollients – These come in gels, lotions and ointments and are oil-based moisturizers designed to rebuild the lost lipids in your skin.
How to Choose a Moisturizer
The basic rule of thumb is that you should choose your moisturizer based on your skin type. If you are oily or combination, a lighter texture (think lotion) will be better. If you are dryer, you need more nourishment (find a cream).
Skin Type Vs Moisturizer
Normal/combination skin: This skin type can use any type of moisturizer. If your skin is normal but on the dry side, you might want to use a thicker, cream moisturizer. If your skin is normal but on the oily side, a gel or gel cream/water cream might be best.
